Grappling Hook
+ Zero Gravity
= Fun
This was our original plan going into the development of this game: Our player is stranded in outer space and their only tool for moving around is a grappling hook.
To fully capitalize on this vision, we would need to create a pulling system that not only matched player's expectations about physics but also felt good. This meant that we would need to put theory into action using... you guessed it... a whole lot of vector math!
After some trial and error, we successfully created the illusion of a rope that uses tension to pull and swing the player, although in reality it is just a line drawn between two unconnected game objects.

An Homage to the Classics
One goal we have is to eventually port The Galaxy's Worst Commute to mobile. We decided to lean into this and find inspiration in the giants of early mobile gaming. From our art style to the format of our storyboards and menu system, we followed in the footsteps of games like Angry Birds, Where's My Water?, and Cut the Rope.
In planning to release The Galaxy's Worst Commute on mobile, we had to take some design considerations into account. It was crucial to keep the game playable with just a mouse, knowing that this would eventually make it easy to switch to touch controls.
