About the Game
Bubble Bee is a classic-style arcade game that I developed over one weekend for Global Game Jam '25 to fit the theme of bubbles. I created this game with Miami University's arcade machine in mind, where it can currently be played.
"Life as a bee is simple... unless you're in a bubble! Collect pollen without popping in this easy-to-learn, hard-to-master arcade game!"

Creating an MVP - Scope and Polish
With such a short deadline, I had to be extremely deliberate in structuring my process. Scope creep can be a serious issue, so I warded it off by making a beeline (pun intended) for a prototype with the most bare-bones gameplay. The goal was to do as little work as necessary to reach "fun".
Once I reached this point, I spent the remainder of the time polishing up the gameplay loop, UI, and little details that give the game character. While I had to sacrifice all sorts of exciting features, such as enemies, wind, and a redemption mode, I was able to create a finished product that I am very proud of.
